IB Maths IA Help, Online

Coaching and feedback on your IB Maths exploration, the IA, from a University of St Andrews mathematics and physics graduate who scored 7·7·7 at Higher Level. You do the work. I help you choose a strong topic, plan it, get the mathematics right, and check it against the IB criteria.

A 30-minute consultation to talk through your exploration and where you are stuck. No commitment.

Your work, start to finish

The exploration has to be your own. I coach you and give feedback, but I do not write it, edit it, or fix it for you. Everything you submit stays yours. What you get is a sharper topic, a clearer plan, and an honest read on where the work is strong and where it is not.

Where students get stuck

Choosing a topic that works

Plenty of IA ideas look good until the mathematics runs out, or sit above what is realistic. I help you find a topic that is genuinely explorable at your level and that you can finish.

Planning the exploration

We map it before you write: the research question, the mathematics you will use, and how the sections fit together.

Getting the mathematics right

This is where a maths and physics background earns its place. I check that the mathematics is at the right level for your course, correctly applied, and that it shows what you claim. Where a step is hand-wavy or a result is misused, I point it out for you to fix.

Reviewing drafts against the criteria

I read your draft against the IB assessment criteria and show you where to strengthen it. You make the changes.

Draft reviews can happen inside your regular lessons or as separate focused sessions. We agree what suits you over WhatsApp. Rates are on the how it works page.

Who you are working with

I am Tomás, a mathematics and physics graduate from the University of St Andrews, and I scored 7·7·7 in my IB Higher Levels, including Maths. In over four years of teaching I have worked with more than 25 IB Maths students, and the exploration is where good guidance helps most. Read what parents and students say.

Common questions

Will you write my IA for me?

No. The IA must be your own work. I coach you and review your drafts. The writing and the mathematics are yours.

Do you help with both AA and AI explorations?

Yes, part of both Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, at Higher and Standard Level.

Can you check my draft before I finish?

Yes. I read your working draft against the IB assessment criteria and show you where it is weak.

How do online IA sessions work?

Live over Google Meet, screen-sharing your draft, the same way as my other online lessons.

When should I start?

The earlier the better, especially for topic choice. Once you have a topic and some mathematics down is a good moment to bring it in.
